Sometimes the best things happen unexpectedly.  In mid-January,  I
joined a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park at the last minute.  I
immediately connected with the leader, Angie Parris-Raney.  In addition
to working two jobs, she is Co-Founder, Director/President and U.S.
Operations Manager of
Project Inti, a 501(c)3 that serves remote and
needy communities in the high Andes.

Nearly ten years before, after exiting the corporate world, I
traveled to Peru to trek the Inca Trail and visit mountain villages.
The breathtaking scenery, the stunning textiles and the stark
poverty made a big impression.  But, like many tourists, I
returned home and the memories of the hardscrabble existence
of the native population faded.  After hearing Angie's story, I felt
moved to contribute.  I will donate the auction proceeds of
Reaching to Project Inti to help them extend their reach.  Please
bid and/or
donate directly to Project Inti.  Every and any amount
helps.

Project Inti helps women market and sell
their textiles
Inspired by a woman I met hiking, I auctioned this mosaic to benefit PROJECT
INTI
, a non-profit (more below).  The inspiration for this piece is the yearning
to reach the summit, literal and otherwise.  The basic shapes echo those
Peru's Machu Picchu.  Materials include unglazed ceramic, pearls, glass and
stone beads, and vitreous tile (10"x13", framed).   Thanks to all who looked,
shared and participated.  The winning bid topped $200!
