My meandering path to mosaics began in childhood.  As a young girl I would
study the bathroom floors in our home to identify new shapes and figures
within the existing 1950s-era tile arrangement.  Fast forward through careers in
journalism, economic analysis, business consulting and jewelry design, through
travels to dozens of countries that opened my eyes to a world of patterns,
textures and colors, and here I am again, completely fascinated and absorbed
by tiles and other
tesserae.  This time, however, I get to decide how to
arrange them.

I chose the name Mixed Media Mosaics because I typically incorporate
different materials in the art I create - many varieties of glass, ceramic tile,
beads of stone, glass and metal, buttons, coins and more. Occasionally I add
paint. The name also leaves open the possibility for me to include
photography and other fine art media in my mosaics.  Although I studied
traditional Roman mosaic techniques in Italy, I like the fact that in
contemporary mosaics there are no rules and the possibilities for expression
are limitless.

My abstract and figurative mosaics can be found in private and museum
collections in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
